Sorry For Your Loss
Synopsis
Cian’s style of writing reflects the voices she is surrounded by. It is natural and lively and is true to the characters she develops in her stories. The potential of her storytelling is viceral. The voices of her characters reflect an array of generations.
Sorry For Your Loss is her story of growing up, and explores the effects of having a sometimes-there-mostly-not Dad. A raw and real performance, Sorry For Your Loss sees Parker opens up to audiences and expose something she never thought she needed to revisit.
This story is about the strength of a woman; and the gift of strength from one woman to another.
Cian has teamed up with theatre director and dramaturg Laura Haughey, who brings her unique physical approach to the storytelling in this original, devised piece of work. Live music will accompany each performance by Andy Duggan. And lighting design is Alec Forbes
Quotes
“We saw ‘Sorry for Your Loss’ in Kirikiriroa last year and loved it. Cian is a powerful and nuanced performer, and has crafted a delicate and deeply affecting show. It’s a beautiful piece of theatre.”
– Jo Randerson
“There is nothing there that doesn’t need to be, the sparse set is enriched by the live score that accompanies the piece and is a fitting background for the actor’s talents to shine. And she does. Cian is a natural and talented performer who transfixes the audience, with her honest approach to telling her story and her ability to physically inhabit the characters in it. Sorry For Your Loss is funny and sad, and ultimately very satisfying.”
– Deborah Nudds @ The Meteor Theatre
“A beautiful heartfelt piece that defies you not to be moved…With a wonderfully light touch, Parker finds her way into our hearts with both her words and her performance.”
– Victor Rodger
